LCQ, LCQ Deca, LCQ XP

The serie of LCQ instruments is an ion-trap mass spectrometer with electrospray (ESI) ionization and MS/MS or MSnth capabilities. A sample can be introduced by direct infusion using a syringe pump, by flow injection using an injection valve and an LC pump, or by LC fitted with a column (LC/MS). The LCQ is equipped with the Xcalibur software suite that permits simultaneous acquisition of mass spectral data. The capability of on-line MS^n allows structural characterization of the separated components. This instrument is primarily dedicated for protein ID, analysis of peptides, and other proteomics work. It is equipped with a nano LC system (Autosampler) and is routinely used for protein ID from in-gel digests and proteins from solution. It is a fast, automated, inexpensive method of analysis.
