AB Sciex 4700 MALDI TOF/TOF Analyzer
The applied Biosystems SciEX 4700 is the only in house instrument with an attached Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization. When coupled to a Time oF Flight Mass Spectrometer instrument the available mass range detected is much larger than other mass spectrometers and can easily analyze ions between 100-200,000Da. The MALDI (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization) is often charterized as a “softer” ionization technique because most of the laser energy is spent reacting with the matrix leaving the polymer intact as it carried intact with the vaporized matrix into the drift tube of the Tof. The AB SciEX 4700 is a free open use instrument but does require some basic training before running.
